Fire Release

Fire Release (火遁, Katon) or Fire Style is one of the five basic Nature Transformations used in ninjutsu.

About

Fire Release is a popular nature transformation in among shinobi of Konohagakure. The Uchiha Clan and Sarutobi Clan put specific signfigance on the ability of its clan members to use Fire Release as well.

Fire Release jutsu are typically expelled from the caster's mouth, for offensive purposes at long and mid-range. Fire Release jutsu can be released in different forms such as ash, and be set off by different sources such as gun power and explosive tags.

In relation to other nature transformations, Fire Release is strong against Wind Release but weak against Water Release. Wind fans flames which can empower a Fire Release jutsu, which is the reason for it's low ability to overcome Fire Release. Conversely, Water drowns out flames but a strong enough Fire Release jutsu can even overcome Water. Strong Fire jutsu can even heat the air to create thunderstorms, perfect for Lightning Release jutsu such as Kirin. Fire Release is also a component of several Kekkei Genkai.

Blaze Release

"Blaze Release" (炎遁, Enton) or Inferno Style refers to Sasuke Uchiha's specialized ability to shape the black flames (黒炎, Kokuen) of Amaterasu, which is stated to be the highest level Fire Release ninjutsu. While Amaterasu is typically unable to be manipulated or extinguished, Sasuke's Blaze Release: Kagutsuchi can fashion the flames into various weapons and defenses. Sasuke can create these flames with his Susanoo as well as in his own palm, and the flames are manipulated through his right Mangekyō Sharingan. Blaze Release is strong enough to evaporate water.

• Fire Release parallels the real-life ninja art "katon-no-jutsu". One example of real-life katon-no-jutsu is Hitsuke: the practice of distracting guards by starting a fire away from the ninja's planned point of entry.
