"Partner" (相棒, Aibō) is the 218th episode of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations.
Summary[]
Isshiki lunges at Kawaki, who attacks using Fire Style, but it proves useless as the Otsutsuki grabs hold of him. Isshiki scoffs at the idea that Naruto taught Kawaki ninjutsu, but the latter retorts that the Hokage gave him a reason to live, when he felt empty. Isshiki plants a Karma seal on the boy once more, and he gloats before his body begins to deconstruct. He praises his opponents for pushing him to the brink, but his confidence soon fades away just as the Karma on Kawaki does too. As the Otsutsuki begins crumbling to the ground, Kawaki reveals that the Karma was implanted on his Shadow Clone, as such, it is useless. Kawaki taunts Isshiki before landing on him, turning him into dust. Sasuke and Kawaki check up on Naruto, who is impressed by his student’s wits. As they question the ramifications of the Baryon Mode, Momoshiki takes over Boruto’s body and stabs out Sasuke’s Rinnegan eye, then commends them for their surprising defeat of Isshiki. Kawaki engages Momoshiki in battle, after Naruto had told him to give up, since there is no one to feed to the Ten Tails for the Chakra Fruit. Momoshiki pins Kawaki down and upon his inspection, realizes that the sacrifice could still work using Kawaki, since his body has become eighty percent Otsutsuki as well. Sasuke manages to knock Momoshiki away and free Kawaki. After trying to hit Momoshiki with Amaterasu, Sasuke theorizes that Boruto using up all his chakra is what could trigger the possession, and that if they could somehow supply him with chakra, Boruto might regain consciousness. Momoshiki manages to surprise them, by using the Vanishing Rasengan on Sasuke. As Momoshiki corners him, Kawaki uses Fire Style on himself, to force the Otsutsuki to absorb it, in order to wake Boruto. The idea is successful, Boruto begins waking up, much to Momoshiki’s chagrin, with the former managing to stop the latter from taking Kawaki away. Boruto apologizes, while Sasuke approaches Naruto, who fell unconscious. Kurama talks to Naruto inside his mind about their final moments together. Though he is sad about not getting to see Hinata and Himawari again, Naruto is at peace. Kurama likens Kawaki and Boruto’s brotherly relationship to Naruto and Sasuke’s, though Naruto remarks, that Sasuke already had Itachi and, that he also wished for a brother as a child. Naruto adds, that he is glad, that Kurama was always with him, having someone closer, than a brother in a way and then, the two reminisce about their life together. They laugh together about even almost killing Isshiki, not wanting to die like a dog, as Kurama put it. Kurama exclaims that he enjoyed the time he spent with Naruto, who says that they should stick together in the afterlife as well. Kurama points it out to his Jinchuriki, that at no point did he say that Naruto would be the one dying, precisely because Naruto would not have agreed to using Baryon Mode, at the cost of Kurama’s life force. Naruto is startled by the revelation, and Kurama tries calming him, by saying that, due to Kurama’s chakra fading away, the Jinchuriki won’t die, as it were the case if Kurama were extracted from him. Kurama begins to fade, warning Naruto to be careful, as he won’t be as strong anymore, before saying goodbye. Naruto is distraught at the loss of his friend, pleading with him not to go, while the remaining Tailed Beasts also mourn the loss of their sibling.
