"Sacrifice" (生贄, Ikenie) is the 51st chapter of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations.
Summary[]
Isshiki asks Boruto why he thinks Isshiki can't kill him. Boruto tells him he's being obvious, and when questioned by Sasuke, explains that Boro let slip about some plan which he presumes to be connected to planting of the Divine Tree, and that Isshiki likely wants to use him for it. Shikamaru questions Amado about why Boruto is needed to plant the Divine Tree. Amado explains that the in order to grow a Divine Tree, a living Ōtsutsuki must be feed to the Ten Tails seedling. Isshiki expressed surprise at Boro's defeat by Boruto, to which Boruto states that it was a team effort and to not underplay Konoha genin. Sasuke tells Isshiki that Konoha knows about his plans which Isshiki refutes saying they won't be able to stop him anyway as he starts walking towards them. Boruto tells him to stop otherwise he'll puncture his neck with a kunai and himself, ruining Isshiki's plan. Amado explains this is perhaps the most important reason why Ōtsutsuki travel in pairs, with one being the sacrifice and the other watching over the tree's growth until it bears fruit. However, despite being sacrificed, they can prepare a vessel in advance and resurrect themselves with Karma. Sumire asks if this method was to be used when Isshiki and Kaguya first came to Earth, to which Amado explains that it likely was, at least on Isshiki's side, with Kaguya being the sacrifice because of her lower rank. The plan went unfulfilled because of Kaguya's betrayal and Shikamaru surmises that with Isshiki now being the last Ōtsutsuki on Earth, he would have to sacrifice himself. Sumire then questions if Isshiki is now planning on using Boruto as the sacrifice. Isshiki asks Boruto if he is threatening him to which Boruto states he has been prepared to die since this battle began. Isshiki disappears and shrinks Boruto's kunai. Sasuke tells him he can't risk getting caught and that their only hope is to stall Isshiki long enough so that his life span runs out. Isshiki ten attacks Sasuke and buries him under his cubes. Boruto tries to attack Isshiki with a Rasengan but Isshiki grabs his arm before it lands and proceeds to break his wrist, stating he won't kill Boruto but he won't hesitate to hurt him. Isshiki kicks him to the ground and informs Boruto of his plans to feed him to the Ten Tails. Amado explains Boruto will become a powerful Ōtsutsuki once his Karma extraction is complete. As a young healthy Ōtsutsuki, the Divine Tree would bear good Chakra Fruit with him as a food source. Shikamaru asks how Boruto plans to defeat Isshiki and Amado remarks that he doesn't know and what happens happens. Kawaki gets angry at Amado's calmness when there's a chance that Naruto and Boruto may die. Amado retorts that he makes the best judgment he can at the time but accepts whatever the result may end up being. He explains that their chances, while still slim, they may be able to defeat Isshiki since Kawaki no longer has Karma. Amado questions whether Kawaki's powerlessness is irritating him or if he's upset at losing Karma. Naruto can't sense Boruto or Sasuke's chakra with Kurama explaing that the cubes are blocking his sensory abilities. Kurama asks Naruto what his plan is, and Naruto explains he'll do anything even if he dies. Kurama says there might be a way but Naruto will die. Naruto attacks Isshiki and rescues Boruto. Boruto tells him to run away or he might die, which Isshiki reiterates but says he will spar them if they tell him Kawaki's location. Naruto tells Kurama he's been prepared to die since he decided he wanted to become Hokage. Naruto then unveils a new chakra mode.
